January and I am full of resolutions to build on my relationship with galleries. Last year was really busy with 18 exhibitions under my belt. I have met so many wonderful artists in Devon and being part of various organisations like Devon Artist Network, Tiverton Art Society and North Devon Arts has afforded me opportunities I would never otherwise have found. All these networks are run by wonderful volunteers who give their time so freely. I am full of admiration for their tireless work and amazing computer skills as I continue to struggle with organising my new website where everything has to be entered in a very specific way. My last website was half the trouble, but also half the quality so I’m sure it’s all worth it!
So far I have submitted paintings to 3 different organisations. Of course you have to make sure you can meet all those deadlines, the handing in times, collecting times, labelling, sending cheques, sending good digital photos or, meeting up with the right man in a van who will take your work to London for yet another fee! Although, the man in a van is cheaper than a rail fare it’s just a bit scary giving your precious work of art to a complete stranger and hoping it will stay in tip top condition. I am about to try this out so I’ll let you know how I get on !
